Comprehensive Range of Software and Display Solutions Meet Variety of Enterprise Needs
CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 14, 2007--Planar Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLNR), a worldwide leader in specialty display solutions, is making its brand debut at this week's Digital Signage Expo (DSE) in Chicago, May 16 & 17. With a comprehensive showcase of products that support its digital signage CoolSign software, Planar's strong presence at this year's show illustrates the company's continued strategic commitment to providing value-add solutions for specialized display market segments.
Planar, which acquired Clarity Visual Systems last year, will be demonstrating a full line of offerings from its multiple business units, including a prototype display of its CoolSign-enabled Integrated Sign solution, a new all-in-one kiosk solution, and a complete range of rear projection and LCD monitors and touch screens designed for indoor or outdoor environments. As one of the few digital signage vendors offering both software and display solutions for a variety of specialty vertical markets, Planar is well-equipped to deliver fully scalable solutions to meet the needs of the largest enterprises.
Highlighted at the Planar booth (Booth 301, Navy Pier Chicago) will be the prototype of the new Integrated Sign (iS40) display appliance, shipping later this year. Available in a 40-inch option, the Planar iS40 simplifies digital signage thanks to its fully-integrated CoolSign software, easy-to-use and intuitive on-screen setup, and because no additional installation or testing is required.
CoolSign, which delivers dynamic digital content to target audiences by location and time, is now compatible with the DB2 information management system from IBM(R). Planar is a business sponsor of IBM's opening-day seminar at DSE on May 16, and has engaged globally with IBM's technical, sales and marketing divisions.
"Planar's signage solutions are proven for a variety of applications, including financial services, retail, gaming and transportation, and enable enterprise customers of any size to communicate effectively to their audiences using digital content," said Kristina K. Gorriaran, vice president and general manager for Planar's Control Room & Signage Business Unit, formerly Clarity Visual Systems. "The broad array of offerings being exhibited at DSE illustrates Planar's ability to deliver the right software, displays and services for any networked visual information system."
Full Line of Displays and Monitors for Digital Signage Needs
Also featured at DSE will be the next generation of Planar's DS15, an all-in-one integrated kiosk solution that incorporates the latest technology, such as an advanced infrared flat-panel touchscreen and an optional magnetic stripe or Smart Card Reader. The DS15 offers consumers a compelling, interactive self-service experience and enables a variety of rich media content to be deployed at the point of purchase.
Additionally, Planar is showcasing various sizes of premium professional displays that are targeted to a wide range of market applications including indoor or outdoor public vendor advertising, casino and hospitality, as well as transportation and traffic control, government, broadcast and telecommunications segments. The new 57-inch m57L, which began shipping in March, is a direct-view LCD monitor that combines leading-edge resolution, high reliability and long-life expectancy to fit demanding commercial environments where a very large display is required. The m57L is joined by the 40-inch Bobcat X LCD for standalone applications in constrained environments, the 46-inch Bay Cat X for high image quality for data-driven applications, and the 50-inch rear-projection Margay tailored for multi-display towers, walls and banners.
Rounding out the Planar exhibit are the PT touchscreen display from its commercial business unit, and the LC1913R LCD touchscreen monitor from its industrial business unit. Durable and dependable, the Planar PT line is ideal for demanding point-of-sale, point-of-purchase and public access environments in retail, hospitality and food service industries. With brightness adjustability up to 1100 cd/m2, the LC1913R is ideally suited for direct sunlight viewing in outdoor kiosks and signage. It also offers four different video input modes for flexibility and an external power supply that compensates for high ambient temperature applications.
Planar's digital signage solutions, kiosk offerings and touchscreen displays are used in thousands of locations, such as Ameristar Casino, Greyhound Park and HAPO Credit Union, and by many U.S. State, local and federal organizations.
