Planar Delivers Greater Flexibility in System Configuration to Optimize Capabilities as Well as Enhanced Display Performance in Processing Images
BEAVERTON, Ore., May 21, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Planar Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:PLNR), a worldwide leader in specialty display solutions, has partnered with NVIDIA Corporation, the recognized leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, to bundle NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics solutions with Planar's Dome diagnostic and clinical medical displays. This partnership supports Planar's corporate strategy to provide high-end, innovative and value-added display solutions in specialty markets, such as the medical imaging industry.
Planar's Dome line offers medical professionals displays with true open architecture support, versatility to view multi-modality studies and multiple head configuration support. With the introduction of Planar's new dual-link Dome E2, Dome E3, Dome E3c, Dome E4c and Dome E5, Dome displays can take full advantage of NVIDIA Quadro technology to provide superior 3D rendering performance and maximum refresh rates. Planar's full line of diagnostic displays will be offered with NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics solutions as an option to provide more robust visual detail and resolution.

Additionally, because NVIDIA provides extended life cycles on the Quadro line, users with both qualified configurations will have access well beyond the typical availability in addition to enhanced technical support. This measure will ensure that Planar keeps abreast of the changes in NVIDIA developments and releases and end users can be assured their solution will be supported in the long term. Conversely, NVIDIA gains Planar's experience and insight into the latest medical display technology, imaging needs and requirements, which will help to guide NVIDIA's product development. From this relationship, end users can expect Planar and NVIDIA to come to market with the latest imaging advances as quickly as they become available.
